About us
Batista Buco began with one woman, a brush, and a refusal to let a wall stay quiet. The shop brings together the original paintings of Dragica Buco — a self-taught Croatian artist whose family roots reach back to Bosnia, and who today lives and paints in Germany’s Neanderland, just outside Düsseldorf.
The artist
Dragica paints the way she cooks for the guests of the family restaurant she has run for years — intuitively, generously, and with a deep love of colour. Her work was first shown publicly at the regional LOKart exhibition, where it won the visitors’ audience prize in 2016. Since then her canvases have moved between the sacred and the joyful: devotional portraits drawn in fine silver line, forests ablaze with red blossom, and luminous abstracts that feel like light caught mid-motion.
Made by hand, made to last
Every piece in this shop is a faithful reproduction of one of Dragica’s original paintings. Fine art prints are produced on premium, acid-free paper with pigment inks; canvases are printed on cotton using the giclée technique and stretched by hand. Choose from four sizes and a range of solid-wood frames — or keep it unframed. Each one ships ready to hang.
Bring one home
Whether you are drawn to the stillness of a portrait or the energy of a blossoming forest, there is a piece here waiting for your wall.
